6abc Action News stopped by the Philadelphia Youth Network headquarters on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to honor the organization. PYN is one of three nonprofit organizations the news outlet honored ahead of the Philadelphia 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“It’s such an honor to be recognized for our work and dedication to our city’s young people,” Wendy-Anne Roberts-Johnson, president and CEO of PYN, said. “For 25 years, we have prepared Philadelphia’s youth to be the next generation of our city’s workforce. 6abc’s kindness is a beautiful reminder that we are supported in this work.”
6ABC’s Vice President of Community Relations Niki Hawkins and her team gave PYN a basket full of gift cards and branded merchandise. They also presented a $500 check to PYN that will be used to further support PYN’s programming to support the city’s youth through workforce development and providing career-connected learning opportunities.
Philadelphia’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the oldest parade in the nation and marked its 105th anniversary last week.
With the help of its partners, PYN has provided over 250,000 Philadelphia youth to work in internships, training programs, and out-of-school time programs since it was founded in 1999. For 25 years, PYN has been dedicated to the development and empowerment of the city’s youth.
