In 2010, Kimberly Pham connected to District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund (a PYN provider that connects opportunity youth to educational supports) following truancy concerns and involvement with the Juvenile Justice System. Through District 1199C, she was able to earn her GED and enroll in Eastern University to earn her Associate's Degree. She later enrolled in Temple University to receive her Bachelors of Science in Social Work in 2017.
Today, Kimberly is a national activist focused on improving the conditions of young people across America. Kimberly was nominated to be a young person on the Youth Council and served as a member of the Project U-Turn steering committee. Kimberly was appointed by Mayor Kenney to serve on the Education Nomination Panel to assist with identifying members for Philadelphia’s new local school board, and she is a member of the National Council of Young Leaders, which founded the movement Opportunity Youth United.
