What Is WorkReady?
Important Updates!
Get paid while learning skills that will open doors to future career opportunities!
The Philadelphia Youth Network's WorkReady programs represent a comprehensive youth employment initiative designed to provide young individuals in Philadelphia with valuable work experience, skills development, and career exposure. WorkReady programs aim to prepare youth for the workforce by offering career development curriculum along with a range of paid employment opportunities, including internships, summer jobs, and apprenticeships.

WorkReady collaborates with various local businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies to create meaningful employment opportunities for participants. Through this initiative, the Philadelphia Youth Network strives to empower youth, enhance their employability, and foster a pipeline of skilled and motivated future workers in the city.
WorkReady stakeholders seek to give young people access to a meaningful paid work experience that promotes self-efficacy, connects youth to caring adults, and offers the opportunity to build the transferable skills required to secure and sustain employment.

WorkReady is evolving! As of 2024, PYN and WorkReady will no longer oversee Philadelphia's general Summer Youth Employment Program.
-
As of this summer, applications for the general pool of 8,000 city funded summer job opportunities will be hosted through the city's new Career Connected Learning Philadelphia (C2L PHL) webpage.

School Year Programs
Historically a summer experience, PYN's WorkReady program has been expanded to include year-round career development opportunities through two new innovative program initiatives— The WorkReady BOOST (Blueprint for Occupational Opportunities, Success, and Training) and WorkReady VIP (Violence Intervention and Prevention) programs.
This expansion brings hundreds of high-quality, year round career development opportunities to Philadelphia, providing participants with paid internship opportunities and unique pathways for personal and professional growth.
Due to limited capacity, youth should be prepared to submit basic applications and participate in a pre-screening interview process! Follow the links below to learn more about each of our WorkReady Initiatives and find the right one for you.

Tailored for individuals aged 14 to 24 in Philadelphia's highest priority violence affected zip codes, WorkReady VIP offers comprehensive work experiences, mentorship, and career development curriculum paired with opportunities for social emotional learning, and conflict resolution strategies.
