Leadership Team

Chekemma J. Fulmore-Townsend, MSW

President & CEO

Chekemma is an energetic thought-leader focused on promoting equity and dismantling poverty for youth and young adults. Her passion for this work comes from her personal experience and her desire to empower youth to achieve their dreams. She was honored in the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2020 Women of Distinction.

In 2019, she was named as a Promise of America Awardee by America’s Promise Alliance. The Chronicle of Philanthropy featured Chekemma in their 2017 special report, The Influencers: People Quietly Changing the Nonprofit World. She was also honored by the Obama Administration as a White House Champion of Change. Chekemma has shared her insight and expertise with a range of international audiences, including recent appearances at the United Nations as well as statewide and national summits across the country. Chekemma sits on the Board of the Community College of Philadelphia and serves as Chair of the Youth Community. She was appointed by Governor Tom Wolf to the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Board and serves as Chair to the Board’s Youth Committee. She also serves on the Delaware County Board of Managers for Juvenile Detention. As President and CEO of PYN, she draws on her experience in research, social work, and systems change to create experiences that promote academic achievement, economic opportunity, and personal success.

Stephanie Gambone, MSA

Executive Vice President

Stephanie Gambone has dedicated nearly 20 years at PYN to creating equal access to education and employment opportunities for Philadelphia's young people. Throughout her career at PYN, Stephanie has worked to advance the organization through strategic partnerships. In her current role as Executive Vice President, she leads the external relations division of PYN, which includes communications and marketing, development, business and strategic partnerships, education policy and strategy as well as the facilitation of innovative pilot approaches and revitalization of systems and programs to generate better outcomes for young Philadelphians.

As a first-generation college graduate, Stephanie understands the importance of education and is committed to creating career-connected education solutions to help young people succeed. Stephanie fundamentally believes in the power of networks and opportunities and it is her motto that if young people thrive, we thrive.

In 2014 Stephanie was awarded the Executive Management Award (EMA) on behalf of Smart CEO magazine. EMAs are awarded to executives who uphold the highest ethics, lead collaboratively and creatively, and enhance and support the organization's mission. Stephanie was recognized as a Connector & Keeper several times by Leadership Philadelphia. She often presents at local and national conferences and leads several efforts citywide.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Stephanie is devoted to creating a prosperous future for the city of Philadelphia, as well as helping other communities that struggle with the same issues. Stephanie graduated from LaSalle University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and holds a Master of Science in Administration from West Chester University. Stephanie was a fellow at Bryn Mawr College's Non-Profit Executive Leadership Institute and she currently serves on the board of the National Adoption Center. Stephanie lives in Philadelphia and enjoys the many benefits of city living with her husband and daughter.

Mike Pompey

Chief Information Officer

Mike Pompey is tasked with fostering and managing all information sciences' strategy organization-wide. With a strong focus on improving program service delivery, Michael leads PYN in the planning and implementation of information systems to support distributed and centralized business functions, as well as achieve more cost effective operations organization-wide.

Michael brings more than 20 years' experience leveraging various technologies in nonprofit environments such as community/urban planning, child welfare, juvenile justice, youth workforce and family & child services. Through extensive experience in solving complex business, technological and organizational issues within the information sciences field, Michael and his team are charged with developing enterprise systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange software and the interconnection between internal and external communication.

In 2013, Michael was awarded Philadelphia Business Journal Top IT Pro. In 2014, he was invited to speak as an honored guest at Dell World, and was also featured by Dell in a case study highlighting his innovative work using Toad's database.

As an avid learner and information enthusiast, Michael graduated from University of South Florida with bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering, criminology and history. He is a member of the CIO Executive Council, Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group and the Society for Information Management.

Karin MacBride, CPA

Vice President of Finance and Administration

With a senior executive background in financial management forecasting and analysis; and accounting operations, Karin joined the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) in 2015 as the Vice President of Finance and Administration. In this role, Karin is responsible for the financial operations of PYN in support of the organization's core functions. In doing so, she manages the organization's accounting functions; budgeting; cash and investments; capital assets; accounts receivable and payable; payroll and benefits; leases and compliance with government reporting requirements, among other tasks. Karin also administers the organization's contracting process for its consultant and provider agreements, contracts and subcontracts.

Prior to joining PYN, Karin served as the Controller at the Princeton Junior School, a private, coeducational school for children in preschool through fifth grade. In this role Karin managed the independent audit processes and oversaw the preparation of federal and state tax returns in conjunction with the auditors. She was also a member of a task force responsible for identifying potential cost savings that would not significantly diminish the overall program offering, which resulted in more than $225,000 in annual cost savings.

Karin is affiliated with the American Institute of CPAs and New Jersey Society of CPAs. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Rider University.
