The Philadelphia Youth Network Board of Directors has appointed Chekemma Fulmore-Townsend as Acting President & Chief Executive Officer of PYN, effective September 9, 2013. Appointing an Acting President & CEO will maintain continuity in leadership as the Board and PYN's executive team evaluate the needs of the organization moving forward.
Chekemma has extensive experience working with PYN. With a background in social work and a commitment to successful program management, Chekemma joined PYN in 2005. During the past eight years, her leadership has greatly contributed to increasing capacity and efficiency at PYN. In her current role as the Vice President of Program Services, Chekemma leads a team accountable for program design, implementation, evaluation, compliance, and continuous improvement for all PYN-managed programs, which serve more than 15,000 youth annually. With over 15 years of experience, Chekemma has used her social work foundation in macro-practice with a concentration in research and non-profit administration to influence the way PYN views its work and decision-making processes as an organization.
PYN's Board of Directors is confident that this appointment will provide the necessary leadership and energy to continue offering valuable services to all of Philadelphia's young people.
"We are fortunate to have a strong leader in place that can step into this role, and are confident the transition in leadership will be seamless," said Board Chair Pamela Gallimore.
