Philadelphia - The Philadelphia Youth Network was happy to nominate John McNeil, President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, for the Executive Leaders Radio (ELR) CEO Philanthropy Award. The award was presented at the ELR CEO Philanthropy Breakfast on Monday, December 4. McNeil was recognized for his community-focused generosity, specifically as it relates to the WorkReady Summer Internship program. Philadelphia Youth Network's President and CEO, Stacy E. Holland, presented McNeil with the award; he was one of 19 CEOs honored at the event.
Since 2007, McNeil has been a strong champion of WorkReady Philadelphia, an initiative focused on preparing youth for the world of work by attracting, aligning, and investing resources in research-based youth workforce development programs.
"We are recognizing these CEOs for their leadership and commitment to their communities," says Temple University Entrepreneurial Center co-founder, Herb Cohen, who also co-founded Executive Leaders Radio.
Through WorkReady Philadelphia, Cancer Treatment Centers of America - Eastern Regional Medical Center has financially supported 57 summer internships. Thanks to Mr. McNeil's support, the hospital's participation has increased every year starting with two interns in 2007 and reaching 18 interns in 2012. In 2011, Cancer Treatment Centers of America - Eastern Regional Medical Center was recognized at the Breakfast of WorkReady Champions for significantly increasing their investment in WorkReady over the previous year's committment.
