Description:
The Neighborhood-Based Youth Development Initiative (YDI) was founded in March 2004 with funding support from the William Penn Foundation. YDI seeks to create a strong collaborative system in which youth ages 12 to18 in targeted communities become connected to quality programming in their neighborhoods. The means for achieving this goal is a "one-stop" system of intake and referral which allows eligible youth to access the services of all youth-serving organizations in their neighborhood. Participating youth are expected to ultimately improve their daily life choices and educational outcomes to insure a healthy transition to early adulthood. PYN is funded by the William Penn Foundation to support the coordination and management of YDI, including system-wide and organizational capacity-building.
