Program Model: Year-Round college readiness program for in-school youth
Description:
Student Success Centers (SSC) take a holistic approach to providing post-secondary and career exposure, preparation, planning, and transition services to students in comprehensive high schools. SSCs serve as a school-wide resource and offer a full range of services to students across all grades. In addition to facilitating the creation of post-secondary plans, SSCs provide critical services which help students stay engaged and on-track through high school graduation. Through diverse programming, SSCs work to establish a college-going culture within their schools and ultimately increase the number of students who graduate from high school, enroll in post-secondary institutions and/or occupational skills training programs, and successfully enter the world of work.
During Program Year 2011-2012:
8,867 youth were served through the Student Success Centers.
Each Center is located in a dedicated space within its school and provides services that are intended to support the schools in increasing the number of students who graduate from high school, enroll in post-secondary institutions and/or occupational skill programs, and successfully enter the world of work following high school.
