Business Mentoring Youth
Business Mentoring Youth (BMY) is the region's leading
work-based mentoring program for 10th grade high school students
that supports the community initiative to cultivate, provide
professional and personal growth for the region's future business
and cultural leaders. Business Mentoring Youth is part of
WorkReady Philadelphia, a comprehensive, public-private partnership
dedicated to building the regions future workforce.
The goal of Business Mentoring Youth is to give students "hands on
experience" in the workplace and to help them develop life skills:
- teamwork,
- goal setting,
- time management,
- communication,
- and an introduction to
technology.
The Business Mentoring Youth program provides training and support for
all school coordinators, mentors and students. Ongoing support will be
available and group activities and recreational opportunities will be
arranged.
Business Mentoring Youth is a partnership among the
Campaign for Mentors, The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the School District
of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Youth Network.
