Project U-Turn

"A young person who embarks on adulthood without a high school diploma faces a grim economic future." (Unfulfilled Promise)

Project U-Turn is Philadelphia’s citywide campaign to resolve the City’s dropout crisis. Launched in 2006, Project U-Turn is led by influential citizens from government, foundations, the school system and youth advocacy organizations, who are committed to bringing much-needed attention to the dropout crisis and to serving as a catalyst for new investments in research-based reforms aimed at increasing graduation rates.

Project U-Turn grew out of extensive work performed by the Philadelphia Youth Council during 2000-2004 to address the needs of disconnected youth, and from the complementary efforts of the Philadelphia Youth Transitions Collaborative during 2005 and 2006.
