History

The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) was incorporated in February 1999. The organization grew from the nationally-recognized School-to-Career partnership then housed at the School District of Philadelphia's Office of Education for Employment, and also received support from the Philadelphia Private Industry Council.

From the beginning, it was designed to serve as an intermediary organization that would:

Expand opportunities for youth by connecting schools and employers
Support youth programs and services authorized by the recently-enacted Workforce Investment Act of 1998
Sustain school-to-career principles and partnerships that were at-risk of collapsing with the sunset of the federal School-to-Work Opportunities Act
